Businesses must update their blog sites two or three times per week. 45 percent people say they enjoy reading business blogs that get updated more than once a week, according to research. Further, percent of online consumers in the United States trust information and advice from blogs, while 61 percent of them have purchased an item based on a blog recommendation.  Therefore, make sure you develop your blogs, update them more than once a week and follow the 2013 blogging trends presented below:

Create a mobile app for your blog:

Everything is turning mobile, so make sure you’re not missing out on the increasing number of consumers who check their social media accounts on their iPhone, iPad or Android devices. There were 835 million Smartphone users in the world as of 2011, according to the research presented by Business Insider.  Therefore, your blog should have a mobile-friendly theme so users can easily view your site on their mobile devices without impairing functionality. If you are using WordPress for your blog site, there are many responsive corporate themes that are free such as Pytheas.

Add visuals on your content:

Content is not all about writing posts, but also visual presentations through photos, videos and infographics. The truth is that most people respond better to information presented in image form, because visuals are processed 60,000 times faster in the brain than text, according to an infographic by digital user experience consultancy, Zabisco! Videos are also great visuals and references to break long blocks of text. It is also helpful to include infographics in your content to make it easier for your readers to understand statistics and numbers. If you want to create your own visualization of data, Infogram is a free infographic maker that you should try out. You can integrate it on your Pinterest and Facebook account, making it easier for your followers to share your content on their profiles.

Integrate your blog on social media:

Social media is widely used worldwide. In the United States alone, more than half of the country’s population or 172 million Americans visit Facebook daily, as posted on ‘The Internet in a Day’ infographic. Therefore, if you post links of your blog content on Facebook, you’ll most likely get more readership than if you merely posted them on your site.  You can put an auto-post option on your blog, so whenever you create new content, it automatically shares your posts on your social media sites. If you are using WordPress, there are various plug-ins you can choose from such as Shareaholic that allows you to add built-in icons of more than 80 social networks, so your readers can easily share your blog links in their profiles.
